Did You Know?

The world’s largest ant, Camponontus gigas, can reach sizes of up to 28mm (1.1”) long, while queens can grow up to 31mm (1.2”) in length. At the other end of the spectrum, Carebara atoma are believed to be the world’s smallest species of ant, with their smallest (minor) workers measuring just 1mm (0.04”) long. If you were to fill a C. gigas head with C. atoma ants, you would fit whole colonies (some say dozens of colonies!) into the space available.
